Our 2nd Week of Class

I am having so much fun this semester! I am really into all these new tools that Terri is introducing us to. I was just playing around with Bookr's pimpampum and I can't wait to start using it in my own classroom. We make books together all the time in my class but I know this will be a great addition to our writing program, my Kinders will LOVE it!

I am also playing with the idea of starting a class blog. I already send home a 2-3 page newsletter every Friday but the idea of having a blog instead of a paper newsletter would be such a savior. I think I will come up with a sample blog and test it on a few of my parents. Not only will this save me time but it will also save paper and I won't have to spend my whole prep time updating the newsletter and making copies.

Now I can't wait to explore the other tools we were introduced to.

I think a class blog is a great idea. I want one too after seeing Kootsman's. I bet it will be so much faster for you to just type up a quick update and post a picture than to make a whole newsletter

I like your idea about having a blog. I think a lot of parents will appreciate it, and any time we can eliminate paper is a plus. I am always surprised at how many of my students have computers at home. Give it a try!

Great ideas!

I must provide a practical (read: "cover your back") suggestion with Bookr since it is open to all of Flickr's photos. Create your own folder on the Flicker site with photos you've provided or selected. That way your students will only access your moderated folder and not find "San Diego Black's beach" when they search for "San Diego" + beach! (Yes, it happened...but my student teacher caught it in time!)

Having a class blog is a great idea. I just spoke to a group of teachers about what they could do with their own classroom blogs, just imagine the possibilities!

The whole idea of letting the students and parents get involved in the learning process, there couldn't be a better way to let them express themselves and their ideas than through writing.
